Sega Enterprises Inc. is a Tokyo-based company with additional offices in the USA and Europe as well as several subsidiaries on several continents. Sega is a true arcade veteran: the first arcade video game (Pong-Tron) was released in 1973. Before that, Sega mainly sold electromechanical gaming devices and pinball machines.
From 1983, Sega converted some of their Acrade games for various consoles and computer systems. A total of 9 games were released for the Atari 2600 console from 1983 to 1984.
From 1983, Sega also developed its own video game consoles, but withdrew from this market segment after the failure of its Dreamcast in 2001.
Under the company name "Sega Amusements International Ltd.", Sega continues to produce video games for arcades, some of which are very elaborate. |
