Module Information |
Not even two years after Atari presented the extremely successful arcade machine, the version for the Atari VCS was released. Probably also a reason why the game sold about 3.8 million copies, making it the third best-selling game for this system. One year after the Space Invaders Championship, Atari held the international Asteroids Tournament in many countries around the world in autumn 1981. Game No.6 was played and the national winners were invited to the final on November 14, 1981 in Washington D.C. The winner was 16-year-old Andrew Breyer, who received 5,000 dollars and an Asteroids Deluxe as a prize. This game was built as a newly programmed version into the PAL version of the Atari 7800 and is played automatically when the console is turned on without an inserted cartridge. |
