Adventure is generally considered the first action adventure in videogame-history.
It is said that it is based on the first text avdenture game ever "Colossal Cave Adventure", which was programmed on the Aplle II computer in 1976.
At the same time Adventure is also the first known game in which the programmer immortalized himself with an "Easteregg".
Unlike usual, Atari did not name the programmers of their games at the time, which of course was unsatisfying for Warren Robinett.
So he came up with this idea with this secret message.
Incidentally, the game Adventure (and especially its Easteregg) plays an important role in the Steven Spielberg movie "Ready Player One" (2018),
which has doubled the value of the game for a short time.

Now, what do you have to do to get to this world-famous Easter egg? Roughly explained: Basically, it's all about bringing three specific objects together in a room. On the console, choose game 2 or 3. Get through the catacombs to the black castle, then into the labyrinth (north of the black castle) find the room where you can find a single dot. Pick it up and don't drop it, because it's grey, like the background, and you wouldn't find it again. Then drop the pixel in the room which is under the golden castle, then go right again. Put two more items in there (or just the dragon). Then go right through the flickering wall - there is the Easter Egg: Created by Warren Robinett. |
