Originally, Microdigital wanted to produce a clone of the Colecovision console. But as it quickly turned out that the production costs would be very high and the corresponding penetration rate of the console was too low, it was decided to produce an Atari 2600 clone. The Atari 2600 console has already enjoyed great popularity in Brazil, there was accordingly a wide range of games. But as the saturation of the market with Atari consoles was almost reached, the Onyx Junior was never a big sales event.
